NEW PAGE ON
SACRED HEART OF JESUS.

I have just been accepted into the Internet Committee of the Sacred Heart Cathedral and was promptly given an assignment: i.e. to create a page on the Sacred Heart, the namesake of the Sacred Heart Cathedral and Parish. If you have any material to contribute on this subject, or, perhaps, you may know of some relevant or pertinent link, please e-mail me...all contributors will be acknowledged (unless specifically requested otherwise.) Thanks.

Religion is a way of life for Catholics. It is not just a list of things we do and things we don't do; nor a list of things we are for and things we are against. It is a way of life based on love, God's love for us, and our love for God and for each other.

In the main, the Roman Catholic Church is one united church founded and established by Our Lord Jesus Christ some two thousand years ago as Holy, Universal / Catholic and Apostolic. It is a church solidly based on biblical truths as well as holy tradition.

    cross1.gif Jesus Christ.

The Character of Jesus Christ: The surpassing eminence of the character of Jesus has been acknowledged by men of the most varied type:

    • "Between him [Jesus] and whoever else in the world there is no possible term of comparison"
    • "He is the highest object we can possibly imagine with respect to religion, the being without whose presence in the mind perfect piety is impossible".
    • "The Christ of the Gospels is the most beautiful incarnation of God in the most beautiful of forms. His beauty is eternal; his reign will never end."

The complete booklet which summarises the catholic faith....extracts:

... you may have questions about the Catholic faith. ... "Are you saved?".... basics of the Catholic faith....In Catholicism you will find answers to life's most troubling questions.....open yourself to God's grace, turn to the Church he established, and follow his plan for you (John 7:17).

Jesus said his Church would be "the light of the world." He then noted that "a city set on a hill cannot be hid" (Matt. 5:14). This means his Church is a visible organization. It must have characteristics that clearly identify it and that distinguish it from other churches.

Jesus promised, "I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it." (Matt. 16:18). This means that his Church will never be destroyed and will never fall away from him. His Church will survive until his return.

Among the Christian churches, only the Catholic Church has existed since the time of Jesus. Every other Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself. This is unequaled by any institution in history.
